  • Fleet of five vehicles to provide transport and logistics support during South Africa’s biggest Beach Tennis circuit in December
(JOHANNESBURG) 5 December 2018 – KIA Motors South Africa this week this week handed over a fleet of five vehicles to Tennis South Africa in support of the KIA Summer Slam Beach Tennis tour, set to take place on the Garden Route between 8 and 21 December 2018. Hosted under the banner of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the KIA Summer Slam Beach Tennis Tour not only carries ITF ranking points, but also a total prize money pot in excess of $35,000.

To support the event, KIA Motors South Africa has provided partner Tennis South Africa (TSA) with two K2500 workshorses – each equipped with accessories such as a tow bar and canopy – to do the heavy lifting in the run-up to, and during the four-tournament circuit. In addition, KIA has also provided TSA with three of its new Grand Sedona people-carriers, which will be used to transport officials, players and other special guests throughout the event.

“With four tournaments over two weeks in three different locations, moving people from one point to the next was a key success factor for both KIA and Tennis South Africa,” says David Sieff, Marketing Director, KIA Motors South Africa. “For us, the newly enhanced Grand Sedona – which now also sports an 8-seat configuration – was the obvious choice, and we’re confident that it will make light work of the task at hand as it transports guests between the various event venues over the coming weeks.”

There are a lot of moving parts when setting up an international event in various locations, which is why the KIA K2500 workhorse was also a natural shoe-in for the KIA Summer Slam Beach Tennis Tour. “Thanks to its large load bed, powerful turbo diesel engine and never-say-die durability, we are very happy to have the versatility and practicality of the KIA K2500 on hand for all of the heavy lifting,” says Richard Glover, CEO of Tennis South Africa.

The KIA Summer Slam Beach Tennis Tour kicks off in Cape St Francis this coming Saturday, 8 December 2018, before moving down the Garden Route to Buffalo Bay outside Knysna from 12 to 14 December. The final two tournaments – between 15 and 21 December 2018 – will take place in Plettenberg Bay between 15 and 18 December. The Grand Finale, between 18 and 21 December, offers a whopping $25,000 prize. Several grassroots development clinics will be held throughout the two-week period, with the qualifiers set to take place on the first day of each tournament.
